Power from statistics

Throughout Europe, policymakers face the challenges of the on-going industrial revolution, which is driven by digital data, computation and automation and that affects everyone. In parallel, there is an increasing need for policies to be designed and monitored based on solid statistical evidence. In this context, The European Statistical System is focusing on delivering European statistics in line with users' requirements while building capacities to react faster to new user demands and new environments through embracing the potential of new data sources and digital technologies.

Migration

The first Round Table took place on 24 October 2016 in Bratislava (Slovakia) on the topic of migration. Experts from Europe and the United States discussed the main issues concerning migration together with experts and high‑level representatives of from various services of the European Commission. The round table was opened by the Deputy Director General of Eurostat, Ms. Mariana Kotzeva.

The second Round Table, which addressed globalisation, took place on 6 December 2016 in Madrid (Spain). Experts from Europe and the United States and high level representatives from various services of the European Commission discussed currently unmet needs for data to inform policies, major trends of globalisation and new information needs arising from these trends.

Experts from Europe and the United States and high‑level representatives of various services of the European Commission discussed unmet needs for data to inform policies, major trends in innovative business models and new information needs arising from these trends.

The fourth Round Table in the Power from Statistics project, entitled Sustainable Evidence for Sustainable Development, took place on 28 March 2017 in Paris (France). Experts from throughout Europe, together with high level representatives of various services of the European Commission, discussed unmet needs for data to inform policies, major trends in sustainable development and new information needs related to sustainability.

It took place on 24 April 2017 in Frankfurt (Germany). Experts from Europe and the United States, together with colleagues of Eurostat and the European Political Strategy Centre, discussed major trends and new information needs in modern statistics.
